How to Use Microsoft Remote Desktop
Microsoft Remote Desktop is a computer program that allows you to access and control the data and resources of another computer. It is often used for support purposes. You can access a computer even when it is not connected to the Internet and can also control your computer from a mobile device using an Android or iOS app.
Microsoft's new app, which gradually replaces the classic Remote Desktop Connection application, is available through the Mac App Store and can be opened by clicking on the App Store icon within Finder or by activating Launchpad and searching for the red-and-white application. Once the app has been installed, a shortcut to the Microsoft Remote Desktop app can be added to your Dock.
Once you've launched the Microsoft Remote Desktop app, a window opens with two options: "Zoom" and "More." The first button enlarges the screen of the remote PC for easier viewing. This is especially useful for computers with a touchscreen display or touchpad, and you can zoom in or out of the remote computer as needed. The More button reveals some other options for setting up the remote session, including the option to create and save a RDP file that can be transferred and used between computers. Other settings include the ability to configure your display preferences, from screen size to multi-monitor support and color depths.
Once you've configured the settings, you can select a PC from the list and connect to it. A window appears on the remote PC showing a desktop image and tools. You can use the mouse and keyboard to control the remote computer, and if you want to close the remote session, you can do so by clicking on the button in the upper-left corner of the window.
